Communication, Pension and Financial Education
Our communication and financial education support is an integral part of our advisory services and is designed to work either in tandem with the investment advisory assistance provided or as an independent service. Developing and maintaining a strong community vision and core values requires an effective communication strategy that involves and empowers the community membership. We employ a disciplined approach with the intent of creating long-term financial well-being for individual members and community. We focus on building knowledge, while taking into account the unique learning styles and cultural priorities of the community. For many years, T.E. Wealth has successfully delivered in-depth financial education through a comprehensive strategic financial education program. T.E. has taken this highly successful platform and adapted it in the delivery of pension and retirement programs. We use this same ongoing, multi-disciplinary approach to ensure proper governance and oversight at the pension committee level. This includes member communications, plan performance measurement and third party assurance that those responsible are meeting the provincial regulatory guidelines. Retirement planning workshops and one-on-one counselling for the pension membership forms an important part of T.E. Wealth’s support.

Helping Aboriginal Communities Manage Wealth
There’s new wealth being created within aboriginal communities across Canada thanks to specific claim settlements, resource sharing, and gaming revenues. And Jack Jamieson, vicepresident of aboriginal services at T. E. Wealth, saw this trend emerging 15 years ago, while leading the southwestern Ontario division of Ernst & Young’s investment advisory practice.
The Key Steps for Enacting Positive, Sustainable Change
Across the country, the receipt of settlement proceeds in aboriginal communities is bringing with it opportunities as well as challenges. As the T.E. Wealth Aboriginal Services team has discovered, effective stewardship of this newfound wealth requires much more than prudent investment management.
A New Era of Opportunity for Canada’s Aboriginal Communities The settlement of the more than 1,000 outstanding aboriginal land claims will collectively put billions of dollars in the hands of the affected Aboriginal communities. With this money comes a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the bands but only when it can be put to good use to further the development of the community and provide an economic base for generations to come.
